A closely fought drawn match. Poole struck first blood when Russ Pegg overlooked a piece being left en prise in the early stages of the game. However, Jon Catchpole then quickly levelled the match with a fine piece sacrifice. The match on board 4 always looked level as pieces were being hoovered off until a draw was agreed in a Knight and pawn endgame. Although the top board was complex, both players were becoming short of time and neither player fancied risking all for a win. Overall a fair result.
