Well played Highcliffe A who have got off to a great winning start. Both the top 2 boards were steady draws but the critical result came on board 3 where Ken Smith sacrificed first a piece then found a brilliant Queen sacrifice to defeat Russ Pegg. The bottom board was advantageous to Robert Halse for most of the game. Both he and Jon Catchpole found the new time control with time increments difficult to handle as the game went on and on and well in excess of 100 moves. When it eventually finished (as a draw) it was well passed 11pm. Well played Highcliffe.
