Some exciting battles this evening - completing in board order: Board 1 finished first with Ellis driving a strong Kingside attack from a Vienna game, with Matt unable to get his King into safety leading to a win for Poole. On board 2 I managed to get a 2 pawn advantage after a dubious knight sacrifice in the opening, Dragi found some counter options but careful play led to a victory for Highcliffe, 1-1. Board 3 ended with Andy having 3 passed pawns vs a bishop with Queen and rooks on the board in a complex middle game. Neil found an inspired move to threaten both Queen and mate in one to win. Board 4 was last to finish with Leo exploiting Roberts isolated pawns with precise play ending with a 3 pawn endgame advantage to level things up. A very enjoyable ding-dong contest.
