Honours even after an enthralling evening of chess. The local derby had a first finish on board 1 with a draw - New Milton then took the advantage with a win on board 2. All eyes on boards 3 & 4 - at first glance, it looked like the stronger ratings would prevail and Highcliffe would win both matches - but then a turnaround suggested the opposite. In the end, Robs positional advantage on board 3 carried the day and John and Matt agreed a draw after an end game where rook plus pawn v rook led to an empasse. Thanks all for playing.

A draw that was nearly a loss
A draw that was nearly a loss. Thankfully Peter turned down my draw offer before I managed to find a win
