An enjoyable evening of chess
This was a good competitive match which was much closer than the scoreline suggests.
Zander and Russ drew on board 3 in what looked like an equal ending. On board 1 James seemed to have good attacking position, then won a pawn and the game. The battle of the juniors on board 4 looked close with Finn sacrificing a pawn early on. He had compensation with the 2 bishops but it was not clear how much. However, after he won his pawn back, he looked to have the better ending which he managed to convert. My game had chances for both sides but Martin missed his a-pawn was en prise when both of us were short of time and the game turned in my favour.
