The first league match of the season was won comfortably by Highcliffe.
The top board was a close affair but I overstretched on attacking on the king side and it suddenly it all fell apart. Well played Bruce.
On 2 Christian had a stranglehold and managed to pick up a couple of pawns and then forcing off the queens with threat of mate to leave a winning end game.
On 3 was very close and ended up as a opposite colour bishop and pawn ending which always looked like a draw.
Board 4 was very entertaing and looked like Steve was winning when won queen for rook and bishop but Ken's active rooks and a passed pawn eventually was too much for Steve.

First Match of the New Season
Thank you Wimborne for providing excellent and competitive games on all boards. And also for delaying kick off because two of our players were delayed by a late train, very sporting.
