Four close fought games that could have gone either way. John and Neil finished first with a well battled draw, Roger and Simon arrived at a Rook and 2 pawns each endgame, but unfortunately Roger blundered at the final hurdle and Simon forced a win. I had a good match with Alan, Fried Liver Attack made for a lively opening, with Alan a pawn up, but behind on development. I made an assault on his king, but Alan fought off well, losing the pawn advantage in the process, a rook and 5 pawns endgame was agreed drawn. On board 3 Robert had a small advantage, again in a rook and pawns endgame, he played excellently to convert the advantage with both players low on time. A drawn match overall seemed a fair result. Thanks to Wimborne who are always great hosts for an entertaining evening.
