Ringwood Captain's View
Ringwood Captain Pete Donaldson reports Jan Van Heeckeren was a convincing winner on board 4 for Highcliffe. Rob Davenport and Adam Ursell had a close game on 2 which ended in a draw - Rob having won the exchange, but Adam gained an important central pawn. On board 3 Alan Wyles was worse out of the opening against Ron Salinger, then looked to be winning, before blundering into a mate. In his own game, on board 1 against Neil Salinger, Pete reports he sacrificed a piece for a "mating attack", but missed a tactic which should have lost him the game. However, Neil was very short of time - a minute for 5 moves and understandably missed the key move - an extremely close and competitive game
