An exciting, close match
An exciting, close match played in a friendly yet competitive spirit. Jon Catchpole scored a quick win on board 4 with a fine sacrificial attack which was followed by 2 draws on the top 2 boards. Dragi Popovic deserved a lot of credit for desperately trying to win his game on board 3 to level the match for Poole A. However, he unfortunately blundered in a better Rook + Knight endgame but great defence by James Forster when short of time (less than 2 minutes for the remainder of the game)..
