Wimborne B v Weymouth B

Weymouth travelled to Wimborne in this must win top of the table clash between two unbeaten teams. Everything started quietly between two strong teams; until the most dramatic event of the evening after about an hours play..................... the silence was broken after Eddie's glasses decided to launch themselves from his head and onto the board scattering pieces.................I think Jon would have claimed the win if one of them had been his king!! After much tittering, and profuse apologies from Eddie, we all carried on and soon after Eddie and Jon agreed a draw after Eddie's solid French defence held firm. Not long after that Steve and Nathaniel agreed a draw in what looked like an open game with the queens and a couple of pieces still on the board. I then noticed that Terry on board two was struggling after missing a tactic from Steve. This meant that I had to play on for a win to try and salvage something from the match, and having declined Simon's earlier offer of a draw I then managed to miscalculate and allow him to create a strong passed pawn, which totally tipped things in his favour. Well played Wimborne................we'll get revenge next season!!
