The match against Poole who had a 100 per cent record was going to be a tough affair.
The top board looked very even and an early draw was agreed in a blocked position.
The remainder of games were exciting with Poole seemingly better on 2 and 3 and Eddie on 4 having a good attacking position. I did not see how but Eddie broke through Jamies defences and forced a win. I seemed to be losing badly but found a nice sacrifice to force an opposite bishops ending that John could not find a win.
On 2 Bill had managed to win a piece for a pawn and was winning but lost another pawn and as the evening was getting later the draw was agreed with Nick.
An excellent win for Wimborne opening up the league with only 2 or 3 matches left.
