It was a very cold evening in Dorchester. The first game to finish was on bottom board and it never really warmed up. Board 3 then agreed a draw, with interlocked pawns across most of the board like a sheet of thick ice. Geoff had a bad bishop, but Frank had an even worse knight and I have little doubt had it continued Geoff would have won. The board 2 game seemed to be going well for Andrew, but Jon slowly thawed whites edge and took the advantage which he duly converted. The top board game was going my way, but then I came up with a flawed plan on the kingside. I think the cold got to both of us and on the last move I resigned after Bd3 threatening everything and with no time left. That allowed Frank to avalanche over and point out the queen sack which would have given me at least a draw and won us the match. Well done Dorchester the matches are always close and this was no different.
