An excellent evening of chess!
A well contested match with 2 early contrasting draws. There was an early quiet draw on board 1 which both players were happy with. Board 3 was wild and it seemed that Richard may have missed an opportunity to sac a bishop to open up Jon's position and win the game. Instead he allowed Jon to castle and the worst seemed to be over. A draw was soon agreed. Jamie continued his excellent form to win what seeemd to be a faultless attacking game. With the score at 2-1 to Southbourne, John had to dig in on board 2, firstly to fend off Len's attack, then to exploit a better R+N v R+B ending. After over 3 hours of play, despite some dogmatic resistence, John managed to win a couple of pawns and carefully move up the board to win the game.
Thank you to Poole A for an excellent evening of chess and hope you had a safe onward journey to the 4NCL hotel straight after the game!
