Thanks to Poole for hospitality. Clocks were again an issue with bottom 2 boards having to use older clocks without increments!
The top board was first to finish with a very safe draw. My game on 3 seemed to have a lot of excitement but petered out into a level position and another draw.
Eddie on 4 played a nice game after Richie sacked rook and 2 pieces for a queen for a kingside attack but could not break through and Eddie finished off nicely.
On 2 John had a strong position and Mark could not extricate his pieces without significant problems and John won for an early finish all round and a few drinks at the bar!

It was nice to welcome Wimborne back to North Road for the 2nd time in a week. Playing in the B&D this time, Wimborne were back to full strength. Another tight match followed and once again the spoils were shared.

Mike’s last minute opening preparation once again seemed to pay dividends with both parties settling for a draw early doors.

I felt well prepared and managed to convert a K-side space advantage into a win.

Martin and Ian’s game looked all set to go crazy but fizzled out somewhat into a draw.

Unfortunately (for Poole) the board four match did go crazy. But the imbalances favoured Wimborne. Richi’s Q+2 proving not to be enough for Eddie’s R+B+B. (I must admit I did not see all the details on this one as didn’t want to get too distracted from my own game).

Another good match and always a pleasure hosting Wimborne. We look forward to catching up with some of you again at the 4NCL this weekend.

(Apologies again for the delay and issue with the clocks. A full enquiry will be detailed and a training schedule to be implemented).

I can confirm that an internal review was swiftly executed, as will anyone who subsequently messes about with the, now correctly configured, Saitek clocks in future. Case closed.

The early bird catches the worm ;-)
