So near yet so far ...
Just as it looked as though Wimborne C, with commendable draws on the top three boards, might clamber their way to their first point of the season, along came Graham White to snatch it away with a win on the bottom board for Wimborne B, mercilessly breaking through a seemingly entrenched position at the end of a hard fought game. It was an enjoyable evening's chess, such is the excellent camaraderie between the players of the two teams, which is just as it should be.
