The Thanet & East Kent Chess League organises competitive chess for the clubs in East Kent.

17 Mar 2020: CORONAVIRUS, COVID-19: The Thanet & East Kent Chess League committee have today suspended unplayed League fixtures and events until further notice.
The League runs competitions for all levels of playing strength as follows:
Millar Cup - teams of 7 players, no grading limits.
Hargreaves Shield - teams of 4 players, maximum rating limit of 1800
Walker Shield - teams of 4 players, maximum rating limit of 1500
Steele Cup - teams of 4 players, average rating limit of 1600 (min. 1300)
Mick Croft Cup - teams of 5 players, average rating limit of 1700 (min. 1300 defaults = 1500). Knockout. Tiebreak by bottom board elimination.
Julius Day Shield - Jamboree at the end of the season.
Micklethwaite Trophy - Individual 10 second Buzzer.
Micklethwaite Shield - Teams of 4 players, 10 second Buzzer.
Individual Quickplay Trophy - Each player has 15 minutes per game.
Team Quickplay Shield - Teams of 4 players, 15 minutes per game.
Lohmann Cup - Individual Championship.
