This result, a first defeat for JTW/Cornhill against another Insurance side since March 1999 (a 3½-½ defeat at the hands of PIFC), looked like a shock, until the line-ups are examined. ABI/Zurich outgraded their opponents, particularly on the bottom boards. Now that the Insurance Chess Club Shield is competed for over a mere 3 games, this defeat could be a mortal blow to JTW/C's chances of retaining that trophy.
