A match decided by a blunder in my own game on board one. Phil had been lost out of the opening, so he sacrificed a piece for two pawns to create play. At a key moment, he offered his Queen for a mating attack. A simple defensive move by me declining the sacrifice would have won the game; but I inexplicably rushed my reply (despite having plenty of time). I thought that Phil had just miscalculated, and I quickly just took the Queen. But it was me who had miscalculated, overlooking an in-between move, and I was indeed being checkmated.
Well done to Phil for keeping the game going after a very bad start; but a missed opportunity for me and the Morecambe side.
