Three games were fairly quickly drawn, leaving these players to watch two exciting and complicated games. Eric had a big attack, but had sacrificed a lot of material to get this and some careful manoeuvring by Paul brought his Knight back into the game which brought him the point.
This left Peter with a very nice position against Tom, but there were certainly lots of ways to go wrong, especially when Tom's a and b pawns started to move down the board. Also both players were down to a couple of minutes + 10 seconds, but some careful calculation by Peter saw him stop the pawns progressing and his own g and h pawns carried the day.
With Chandler's Ford missing Iwan Cave, who is playing for Wales in the World Youth Championship in Italy, and being outrated heavily on every board we were very pleased to draw the match.
