Good to play the university team who deserved better on the night. I didn't see any games until my game was finished, but from a glance Peter had a very active position on board one and was first to finish, quickly followed by a win for Julian on board 5. Despite being two up, we were the team struggling. My position was pretty dreadful, thanks mainly to my opponent good play and i capitulated at much the same time as Richard on board 2 resigned having blundered a rook.
That left the match score at 2 each but in the deciding game Malcolm was losing with knight and two pawns against Bishop and three with the pawns on both sides of the board. He did have the advantage of more time and after he had won the passed pawn the game looked and was declared drawn.
