At 7:30, Board 2 for Salisbury was missing in "inaction". Thirty minutes later our board 2 was claimed the game. He travels 25 miles to play in the team. That is the only comment I will make in this age of instant mobile communication.
On a happier note, My opponents combination should have borne more fruit. Despite that he then held a position an exchange down very well. I didn't see much of board 3 and 5 but when I bailed out to take a draw, we were still playing on board 1.
From when I saw it, Peter looked to have an advantage on the board and was up on time but Simon was defending stoically. However, eventually Peter ground out a win by threating to win a piece by advancing his queenside pawns to record a victory.
A convincing score line in the end, but the contested games were all hard fought.
