Fenton narrowly retained the South Potteries Chess Challenge Cup last night in a close fought match against Meir, eventually winning by 6 - 5. This pre-season competition is now in it's 14th season, with Fenton now leading the series by 8 - 6. All credit to Meir, who were outgraded on every board, for making it such a close match. Unfortunately, Fenton proved to be too strong on the middle/lower order boards, taking 5 points out of 6 on boards 5 to 10.
