An enjoyable evening of friendly chess and socialising at the Spyglass & Kettle pub in the glorious sunshine where there was quite a crowd of interested non-chess playing onlookers.

Congratulations to Ringwood on their deserved win.

With all teams on 2 points it sets everything up nicely for the final round of matches.

The Sat Nav was reluctant to get us down to the sea at Southbourne. It seemed to be on an imaginary car chase as it suggested lefts and rights at every opportunity and then appeared to return us constantly to the main road. But like Cagney and Lacey, myself and Rob eventually arrived.

Martin Simons kindly volunteered James to even the sides as he has played for Ringwood previously. This, especially given it was top board likely swung the match in Ringwood's favour at the kick-off.

I didn't see many other games as I was having enough trouble in my own. In the end, I got a draw because my opponent was down to their last minute!

Thanks to Southbourne for the welcome, for James on the night, and the games played in excellent spirit.
