An entertaining evening and possibly a record number of players for a match played by 2 clubs in the B&DCL!

The score was to a large extent irrelevant as it was the social occasion that counted including lots of friendly chat not to mention the refreshments being laid on.

In relation to the chess, Southbourne just edged it thanks in part to their slightly stronger top order and Bacchus team players (including 2 juniors) in the lower order whilst Highcliffe had the better of the middle order.

Many thanks to the Highcliffe club for being very sporting hosting this friendly first match in the inaugural summer chess league. Hopefully, we can do it again soon.

An excellent match played in great spirit. The juniors played very well as did the whole Southbourne team worthy winners on the night. Another inspired concept by Martin. RU
