Lansil Cup Final
A good win for Lancaster A over Morecambe, and a chance to wrest one of the cups that clog up their trophy cabinet. Danny was first to finish, having won a piece and completed a straightforward conversion. Michael accepted a pawn but declined a further piece in a Modern structure, but once lines were opened it was tricky to keep White's better-developed pieces at bay. Two boards down and with Alex a clear pawn up against Alex, John accepted a draw against Dave to settle the match in Lancaster's favour. But Alan defended stoutly for a long time and it needed a sly trap approaching time pressure for Alex to claim the win.
