The match score fails to represent the games. We could not have complained if the score had been the other way round.

Matthew had a winning position early doors, but his opponent recovered well to secure the point.

Of what I could see, Board 3 was a nice victory for Malcolm. No major turn round of fortune just a nicely played game.

I wandered away from board 1, thinking there was no possibility for Niall to turn it around. He was a bishop for 2 pawns down in a double rook ending, However, in trying to swap off a pair of rooks, Niall's opponent allowed him to play a nice tactic that won the bishop back and resulted in a likely winning end game. Niall showed the necessary but still impressive technique to win it.

At this point with the score 2-1 Mark checked the match score and decided a draw was no good and he needed to win his position. He made a good effort, leaving Graham scratching around for chepo's. Sadly for Mark one appeared.

Regardless of the result it was good to meet up with the Dorchester folk again.

It is funny to compare how one team sees things versus your own view. I thought Matthew was having the better of things but he offered me (David) a draw. I turned it down because as a team I thought we were doing so badly on the other boards that I had to win. About 8 moves later I had deservedly lost.

Anyway good to see Ringwood again and it makes the league a lot more interesting

You were playing me (Malcolm), David - not Matthew who lost on board 4!
