A tough match which we were probably fortunate to win. Rob was a late substitute but had a very exciting game against Jamie. I was next to finish. I was slightly worse against Len, but its very hard to play heavy piece ending when the Kings are exposed and in going for it, Len seemed to allow me too much activity.

Next to finish was a complicated Old English defence between Peter and Russell. From the analysis afterwards , a draw seemed the right result.

This left Kevin with Rook, Knight and 5 pawns against Martin who had Rook, Bishop and 3 pawns. The result looked inevitable but Martin certainly made his opponent work for it, even Towards giving up a bishop for two passed pawns. However, Kevin neutralised the pawns and looked to be winning them when Martin's clock finally fell.

It was good to see the Southbourne folk again.

Boosted by the inclusion of Peter Anderson for his first game of the season Ringwood were the deserved winners in a closely fought match.

I did not see much of the other games as I was busy sacrificing (losing) my own pawns but Martin's analysis seems fair and accurate.

Well played Ringwood and thanks for the friendly hospitality & drinks - much appreciated.
