| Text | Geoffrey Frederick Steele (1933-2014) was League Chairman from 1973-1982. He was also Treasurer, and later President, of the Kent County Chess Association. Geoff played chess for Margate from 1976-2013. He assisted in running the Thanet Congress, and also ran the Folkestone Congress, for some years. At the inaugural Thanet Congress in 1970 Geoff won the prize for the highest placed Thanet player. |
