Board 2 finished as a draw relatively quickly as all pieces were exchanged except a bishop each with equal pawns. Joss won a piece on board 4 but subsequently had to give up his queen and resign. A close game on board 3 went in Preston's favour when Colin dropped a piece. The result depended on board 1 when, after a fierce encounter, Peter entered a promising endgame with bishop v knight and Geoff having the disadvantage of two isolated pawns. However Geoff played well and won the game, and with it, the match.
