Unfortunately for Poulton they were only able to field 3 boards. Ray was first to finish with a good win over Boris who blundered a piece and was left in an hopeless position. Bob secured the match for Lytham 3 in what looked like an equal game for a while. However, Bob won a pawn and had a better position with his king shepherding two connected pawns and thus was able to forced a win. In the last game to finish Pat was a pawn up but Dave had a decent position with a queen and rook controlling an open file. A draw was agreed with Lytham 3 already having won the match.
