Preston board 2 was Sebastian Szydlowski. I agreed with Pat to call him 140 the drop downs force me to input "New Player" with grade of 100. Even with a grade of 140 on the handicap Preston needed to win 5-3 and ended up winning 6-2 so progress to the final. I didn't play and was happy to watch the games . Bd1 Pat had an advantage but sadly left a rook en prise to a knight capture in an ending as black. In the 2nd game Paul got a plus in a Marshall Ruy Lopez and converted. Bd 2 Colin played very solidly v Sebastian in both games grinding out a rook and pawn ending in game 2. A tough introduction to competitive chess for Sebastian. Bd3 David was his usual granite self v Raymond - game 1 was tough Raymond looked to be standing well in the middle game but David ground him down. In game 2 David won an early pawn which proved enough. On Bd4 Andrew seemed to win both games very comfortably and played very impressively and was sharp and clinical. It seemed everybody had a good night and enjoyed the games. Onto Poulton in the last game and will be tricky/interesting to know what team to put out with Paul,David and Andy performing so well (Obviously if the game happens depending on the current Health crisis). Finally apologies for the delay in putting this on but been very busy and not so well for a few days. Hope to see you all when the current Coronavirus passes. Pete.

I checked with Malcolm and apparently we can play a non graded ECF member as long as he doesn't play more than a certain amount of games. I think Malcolm said 3. Pete
