John, on board two, was the first to fall after the choice of being mated or losing a knight for nothing meant that he was on a hiding to nothing for the rest of the game.
David, on board one, was next to finish after a titanic struggle to get through an almost stone wall position. A draw was eventually agreed.
Frank, on board three, was next to finish after a titanic struggle in a complicated position,
Mike, on board four, had a long hard struggle and ended up in a drawish position and although a pawn down a draw was agreed.
