From what I saw of the other
From what I saw of the other games, on board 4 Derek seemed to have queenside pressure that fizzled out to a drawn R+P ending. Nick also had some pressure on board 3 but was helped when Julian lost a pawn and the exchange. There was an exciting tussle on board 2 when Nick lost (sacrificed?) a piece in the opening an had chances against John's uncastled king but john sacrificed the exchange to get castled ending up with 2 pieces for a rook. Then white's poor pawn structure and weak king's position was his undoing. I'd like to say I sacrificed a piece for 3 pawns on board 1 but I actually blundered a piece and was lucky to get 3 pawns for it! The post mortem was interesting - both Geoff and I thought we were lost! Thanks to Dorchester for their hospitality.
