First to finish was my game. After a poor opening Paul skilfully exploited my lack of development and exposed king. Malcolm was able to win the exchange against Kit which enabled him to reach a won endgame. I believe game four was eventful. Carl lost a pawn and then a piece, but Tom blundered the piece back. However Tom eventually emerged with the exchange up and similar to game two was able to win the endgame. At this point the game appeared to be going Lytham's way. On board one things looked equal but Brett played the endgame well and was able to force home a passed pawn which decided the game. This left game 5 where John was attacking and Geoff was desperately defending. Geoff was able to find some good moves and kept his nerve, with only a minute left on either clock a draw was agreed as John couldn't find the winning blow.
The league is therefore set up for tonight's denouement.
