1st game to finish was Phil Raynor versus Blaine McGrady - Blaine sac'd a bishop for a pawn in the opening in order to gain an initiative - after some sharp play we ended in a position where Black could gain a draw by threefold repetition. The 2nd game to finish was Board 4 where Bob managed to win a number of pawns - Ron resigned when the material advantage became overwhelming. Dave Aspinall won the match for Lytham by taking advantage of a superiority in material - eventually getting in an attack against Keith's king. Finally Rob Gallagher played out an ending where Jakub had a bishop and Rob had a knight - Rob also had a couple of extra pawns and these were sufficient to decide things. Earlier in the game it was very close with Jakub potentially having an advantage in a dynamic middle game position. All in all, a very good evening's chess for all of the players involved.
