Dramatic finish to the season with the result in doubt right up to the last minute. Bd4 finished first with Oleg losing a rook in the opening without any compensation. Bd5 was next with John managing to overcome Peters aggressive anti-Sicilian. At this point Bd1 looked a safe win for Lytham as Roy was the exchange up with a strong position; Bds 2&3 looked pretty drawish. Then Roy lost (i'm still not sure how!!). On Bd2 David tried for a win but was running short of time and had opened his position giving Kit the better opportunities, Paul & Graham on Bd3 were very equal but Graham was slightly better in the ending and made it pay - the score now being 2-2! David was now struggling on time and Kit had gained the upper hand - David couldn't make any progress and simply run out of time - I'm pretty sure Kit was winning in the final position anyway. So 3-2 to Lytham1 meaning they retain the league title (jointly with Preston2 this as both teams have the same match and game points). Commiserations to Poulton who so nearly took the title this year and put up a great fight.
