Keith overlooked a bishop en prise, so Ken, having swapped queens, was able to put pressure on the centre with the benefit of the extra piece. He also had a bishop preventing manoeuvring on Keith's 1st. and 2nd. rank, and Keith resigned.
Young Ben then won against Graham, and the 2-0 lead for Poulton looked decisive, but the other two games were very close, both sets of players each having queen and rook. It was Liam who managed to secure the team win with a draw against John, both players having only a King and useless pawn each. Paul had to concede to Colin when Colin took his last pawn, and Colin's two remaining pawns were too widely spaced for Paul to deal with them both.
