Incrediblly close match between last year's joint champions.
Bd5 finished first with a fairly quiet draw, both sides had small advantages but not enough to make a difference. John on bd4 had a very strong attack against Geoff's King and this proved too strong in the end putting Lytham 1up. Paul then increased their lead by gaining a strong attacking position vs Malcolm which he used to break through. Tom had the worst of a minor piece ending vs Graham and in the end Graham's Bishop was stronger than Tom's Knight. This bought it back to 2.5-1.5 and with Brett having a 'probably winning' Rook,Bishop and 2 pawns (both RP and both on the 7th!) vs Roy's Rook, Knight and 1 pawn (also on the 7th!!) things look set for a tied match. However Roy managed to confuse Brett in the mutual time scramble and was left Rook and Knight vs Brett's lone Bishop but with only type 2 seconds to complete the game; Brett had 20 seconds - so a sporting draw was agreed giving Lytham the match by 3-2.
