Much closer than the final scoreline would suggest. There were two good wins for Wimborne with white but it was very much a back foot draw on the top board and Derek looked favourite to win the last match to finish on Board 3. Unfortunately for him he got in a bit of a tangle in a queen and pawns end game, a problem exacerbated by his clock ticking down, and Graham pulled off an unlikely win. It is always an enjoyable evening playing Purbeck, whatever the outcome, and tonight was no different.
