Two wins with white and two draws with black saw Wimborne home in a well contested match. Fair play to Richard Ursell and Rob Halse who completed their own mini chessathon, this being their third league match on successive nights this week. Richard played well to secure his draw on the top board against Mark Littleton, while Rob went the full distance against Stephen Appleby on board 2 in an interesting knights and pawns finish where Steve's passed pawn on the rook file and better placed knights proved decisive. In the other games Pete Donaldson and myself agreed an early draw and Tim Joyce prevailed for Wimborne on board 4. Our thanks to Highcliffe for a very enjoyable match played in a fine spirit.
