Wimborne were worthy winners; John Bassinder won a piece early on against Jan, and Jan was always chasing the game after that. Ron and Harold looked locked in a draw- each offering at different stages of the game. Eventually Harold won a pawn and made it count in the end game. John and Tom had a ding-dong battle culminating in a massive exchange but leaving Tom the worse off. Board 1 went to the wire with both players low on time - the pressure of a passed pawn telling for white and Highcliffe avoided a whitewash. Thanks to Wimborne for hosting in a spirited and friendly atmosphere at a fine venue.
