A close fought encounter between the only two teams still in with a shout of winning the League. Ringwood needed a point to get over the line but managed to win it thanks to James's decisive game. He had spent a lot of time ensuring he survived the opening, but it turned out to be time well spent when he eventually broke through to win. When I looked, I thought he was a bit better but was concerned he had 9 minutes 15 seconds to his opponents 41 minutes.

Top board was equally hard fought and, in an incredibly complex position, a draw was agreed as time became a factor - Peter had 3 minutes left and Mike about 11 minutes. After much analysis by the players, and the rest of us, no firm conclusive was reached about who was better in the final position. :-) . Hopefully we will find out eventually!

A very good night of chess and a pleasure to play against the Dorchester team as always.

Geoff Searing comments that Mike Waddington was annoyed he didn't play on when a draw was agreed, and Andy Footner was ahead at one point. The bottom two boards were unremarkable draws. Well done Ringwood for being Division 1 Champions.
